FAQs

Why we chose upcycling instead of shiny new materials?

In a world of fast fashion it’s important to stop for a second and think. Who made the jacket I just added to my cart? Am I sure factory it was made in is a safe place for its workers? Is it made from safe materials? What chemicals were used during the production and how can they potentially affect my health?

Why upcycling is an answer to all of those questions?

The materials already exist, there’s no need to create more, no more chemicals will be used, no more hours in an unsafe factory will be spent. Clothes that were already used were also most likely washed a few times so there’s lower chance for them to have unwanted chemicals. So, let’s use materials that could be easily become a trash, let’s select the best of them and reuse! Are you inspired by that? Well, we are! That’s why we’re off to sew a couple of new bags, and inviting you to go through some “trash” too, be it your own wardrobe, second hand shops or... our profile!

Where do our materials come from?

All our textiles used to be second handed clothes or, less often, home textiles. They are all handpicked in various second hands and charity shops.

Knowing we will anyway cut every item into pieces we can also use clothes that otherwise would be thrown away due to some issues like small stains or rips. More saved clothes, yey! Of course, we will make sure none of those issues will affect our products, we will cut, cut, cut until it’s all good!

Then each and every piece is carefully washed and sterilized with hot steam so they are all safe and fresh.

Once this is done, we are ready to sew!

Are 100% of our materials upcycled?

All the textiles used in our bags are upcycled. Only items that we (for now!) buy new are metal elements, zippers, straps and interfacing.

How to take care of our products?

All textiles used in our products were already washed so they shouldn’t shrink, change shape etc. However, some of them are natural materials, like wool, and because of that we suggest to handwash our products in 30°C / 90°F while using gentle detergents. This type of washing will help them to keep the initial shape and color and will protect metal and embroidered elements.  We recommend to flat dry all of our products and definitely do not tumble-dry them.

We hope they will stay with you for a long time!
